Feed Your Mind

Research is developing around the theory that from before we are born our sense of self is developing along with our cognitive abilities and consciousness. What this means is that no matter what your theory on consciousness is the mind is active and responding to it's environment pretty early. So what we allow it to experience can have impactful lasting effect. As we grow independently we have some choice in what we engage in, what experiences we decide to have. What we feed our mind.

What Does It Mean To Feed You Mind?

Feeding our mind can be as simple as what we eat, where we go, what we do, to as profound as what thoughts we choose to occupy ourselves with, how we feel and express emotions. As a child our choices are shaped by others within our environment, and our learnt behaviour is influenced by that of others in our life. As becoming a young adult and into maturity, we can decide to take control and manage the nurturing of our mind by learning how to feed it appropriately.

Your Hungry Mind

When is the last time you fed your mind?

Your mind might be starving!

Your mind needs regular attention to grow and develop in a way that will serve the whole of you best - your body, spirit and mind.

When you find out what your mind needs and give it it's right diet the rest starts to respond in an healthier way, and you can experience positive changes in your life.

What is your mind diet?

Hamburgers every day?

If you ate hamburgers all day every day, your body's response would be to feel undernourished, under  strain, and as a result not to work at it's best.

In the same way if you viewed socials and only gamed all day everyday, your mind would have a response which might look like heightened anxiety levels, FOMO, body dysmorphia, depression, sleep problems like insomnia, and difficulty managing emotions, attention, and impulses due to a state of hyperarousal.

What Does Your Mind want?

Giving your mind the things it takes to facilitate and promote growth and flourishing are the things our mind wants and craves. Your mind wants to be active, and then it  needs rest. It needs to be challenged, and it needs playful moments. It needs the right nutrients, and it needs variety. It needs social time, and it needs alone time. It needs all these diverse activities, nourishments and rest periods to balance all the chemicals which promote it's health, and keep your mind happy.
