Why Choose A Your Better Mind Placement
We provide a friendly, professional nurturing space for you to learn, experience and gain knowledge whilst gaining your clinical hours to meet the requirements of your course or accreditation awarding body.
Build Your Skills and Knowledge
You will be able to refresh, and practice your learned skills, as well as learn new ones to help you find your unique therapeutic style to most effectively assist your clients. Whilst in training you are given three clients for your first 100 hours, thereafter increasing to up to five clients per week, depending on your capability as a trainee counsellor. We work with you at your pace. For those working towards accreditation, your needs will be discussed and agreed after acceptance of placement.
Support and Supervision
Throughout your placement you will be regularly supported with both clinical and line management supervision. You will receive supervision every two weeks, and you will experience both a group supervision session in order to meet with and share your experiences with your peers, as well as your own individual session, and a dedicated time for you to discuss and explore your client work. You will have access to 1.5hrs of supervision per month according with NCPS and BACP governing bodies. Your supervision will be given by trained supervisors, assigned to you by a clinical lead. Clinical leads and supervisors are on hand for any safeguarding matters at all times.
Your Better Mind Onboarding, CPD and Training
When you choose Your Better Mind, you are also choosing to deepen your knowledge. Your story will start with an onboarding day, where you will learn all about the working processes at YBM, including an in depth review of safeguarding practices and policy. This will be followed by a training day to refresh and ready you and your client facing skills before you are allocated your first client. Emphasis will be on active listening skills, reflection, the client therapist alliance, ethical awareness particularly confidentiality and the contract. Throughout your placement training days will take place which will be certificated and count towards your CPD requirements.
